SM4RT IT Lead  / S4HANA Group IT Lead

Place in GR organization

The Head of Group Architecture  is the line manager + matrix operation (dotted line) to SM4RT Program Director

100% assigned to SM4RT program, has no AIT BAU responsibilities and his responsibilities are clearly communicated to all AIT colleagues.

 

Tasks in one sentence

He/She takes the professional leadership of all AIT relevant artifacts of the SM4RT program and supervises the quality of teamwork delivered by GR AIT colleagues in the program

This is one of the most senior roles in the SM4RT Program.

Tasks high level:

 

  1. short term: leads the SM4RT AIT Value Capture horizontal stream  (within SM4RT Program) (until 2025 Q1)
  2. mid term: coordinates the AIT tasks regarding the SM4RT S4HANA Global Template design + detailed specification + development + deployment  (within SM4RT Program) (2025-29)
  3. long term: as Platform owner, manages the post GoLive S4HANA ecosystem and roadmap

 

AIT: S4HANA + 3rd party systems + interfaces + infrastructure + data, all at HQ and group level

 

Tasks in the SM4RT program in more details:

  • Oversees and reviews the identification and classification of changes regarding IT architecture of S4HANA an 3rd party systems, IT infrastructure and data topics
  • Oversees and reviews design / change proposals on S4HANA ToBe group level architecture (and its interim stages) + S4HANA ToBe infrastructure + S4HANA data governance
  • Acts as the ultimate owner of all AIT relevant aspects of the program, who crosschecks their completeness as well as interdependencies and gets involved in operative tasks if needed
  • As member of the SM4RT Program OpCo, approves / disapproves all AIT relevant proposals submitted to OpCo on behalf of AIT   
  • Provides leadership in the design work that sets the framework for AIT S4HANA group governance and for the principles for any localization
  • Supervises the quality of deliverables prepared by GR AIT colleagues and coaches them to act with a HQ / group mindset
  • Works in close collaboration with the SM4RT Transformation Office Manager and with the SM4RT Project Managers responsible for IT related scopes
  • Ensures proper information sharing of all SM4RT AIT relevant aspects within the AIT leadership team and manages escalations within the department
  • Identifies risks and proposes risk mitigation actions
  • Supports SM4RT Program Director in working out the right vendor strategy and in updating the Program plan and preparing forecasts
  • Represents the interest of AIT in all SM4RT RFP processes, bidder negotiations, vendor management and vendor disputes
  • Designs and builds the inhouse AIT resource model for the next phases of the program itself (AIT operating model during the program)
  • Proposes the AIT target operating model at group level for the post GoLive era
  • Constantly evaluates program performance from AIT perspective and advises Head of Group Architect and SM4RT Program Director on how to improve operational excellence

Background and personal traits:

  • has background in project work, preferably in big transformation projects
  • hardcore IT professional and has the experience of an enterprise architect, preferably of larger group organization
  • has undertaken core roles in previous SAP related IT implementation projects
  • has a strategic as well as tactical level management mindset
  • understands IT operations also as a business where people need to be managed and the costs need to be financed
  • has experience in vendor RFPs, negotiations and supplier management
  • is highly cooperative, very proactive, actively comments, asks questions on the workshops, has highly structured thinking and communication
  • enjoys driving his/her own topics and he/she is not taking the backseat in discussions
  • has a persistently pushing personality, not a giving up / getting comfortable type
  • masters English language
