Global Head of Accounting

About the role

The Global Head of Accounting is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions of a multinational organization. The role ensures compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in financial operations across all regions where the company operates.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute global accounting strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Advise CFO and senior leadership on accounting matters, incl. risk, opportunities, and M&A
  • Lead global standardization and optimization of accounting processes

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee timely and accurate consolidated financial statements (IFRS & local GAAP)
  • Ensure reporting integrity for internal/external stakeholders (investors, regulators, auditors)
  • Coordinate statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with international accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risk and prevent fraud
  • Lead global audit readiness and coordination with external auditors

Global Team Leadership

  • Manage regional/local accounting teams across countries
  • Foster accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth
  • Serve as liaison between accounting and departments (finance, treasury, operations)

Budgeting & Cost Management

  • Monitor and control accounting-related costs, incl. audit and consulting fees
  • Systems, Technology & Improvement
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools for global efficiency
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives
  • Improve policies, procedures, and practices toward best-in-class standards
  • Stay up to date with evolving accounting trends and standards

Stakeholder Communication

  • Present financial metrics and accounting insights to board, Audit Committee, executives
  • Represent the company with external stakeholders: auditors, regulators, investors

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

  • Provide accounting expertise throughout M&A lifecycle: due diligence, integration, reporting

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Proven experience in senior accounting leadership roles within multinational companies
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong background in financial reporting, compliance, and audit coordination
  • Experience managing global or regional accounting teams, including remote leadership
  • Track record of driving process improvements and digital transformation in accounting
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Expertise in M&A accounting, including due diligence and post-deal integration
  • Excellent understanding of internal controls, risk management, and governance frameworks
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with senior executives, boards, auditors, and regulators
